Educator Testimonials of Native English

Francien Jones, Educational Director & 9 Years of ESL Teaching Experience

“I have been teaching this curriculum for several years and have witnessed how well it works in the classroom. It contains built in scaffolding in the exercises. Grammar lessons take students from being able to identify concepts in a controlled practice to limited application in a semi-controlled practice, and then to full production in a communicative task. Our Integrated Skills courses do much the same thing while helping them to practice all four areas of communication: listening, speaking, reading & writing. In the latter, there is an exam for their understanding of the concepts taught, and a final project that tests their ability to apply the skills learned. The lower level curriculum is based on themes that are more personal in nature as students become familiar with the language. As they move into the more advanced levels, the themes expand to help them learn more academic vocabulary and cultural topics beyond themselves to prepare them for subjects they might have to address in a university or work environment, or even on the TOEFL or other proficiency exams. This curriculum is well developed and effective.”

Andrea Dietrich, 20+ Years of ESL Teaching Experience at Nomen Global

“Native English’s curriculum has been assembled meticulously throughout the many years I have been using it at Nomen Global. I remember when we used to use Azar books and many students would never buy them, so it caused problems in the classroom. Also, our Monday activities were in disarray for not having consistency from semester to semester. Now that different educators have worked together to create a program that encompasses all the aspects of language learning into convenient "blocks" of lessons for all levels, the school has one of the best programs I have ever taught with. Everything is centered around themes, thinking maps and exercises that correlate the Grammar for each block with its respective Integrated class lessons. Writing, reading, listening and speaking appear every single day as part of the curriculum and the day's grammar shows up in the integrated lessons. Because the goal is to get students "college-ready," the school has researched best teaching methods for college readiness and also best vocabulary for TOEFL testing, so by the time students get through all the levels with the textbooks, they will have learned many words necessary to know on a TOEFL test. The thinking maps are a great way for students to learn how to organize the way they think, which enables them to speak and write with more clarity and logic. I think students here will agree, our methods are very effective.”
